forum VIP status - scam? or what?

I just got a notice in my email to get VIP status in this forum. I don't even know what that means, if anything, but the link looks very suspicious. I am not clicking on it. Can someone lease advise?

I believe that it is a hack. We have been inundated with spammers lately. For any one who used their log in at that site, you will need to change your password here as soon as possible.

Sorry, that was probably my fault. I was banning user names, email, and IP addresses as fast as I a spammer popped up. I may have accidentally banned your IP. Sorry. Damon adjusted the settings to prevent the spammers so they are "kaput!" Again, sorry.
